The National Ploughing Championships got underway in Ratheniska yesterday in some glorious sunshine.
The craic was mighty as 91,500 patrons from all over the country descended upon Laois.
The annual event is the largest of its kind in Europe with 300,000 visitors expected over the next three days.
There was plenty of music, machinery and fashion in the fields – and attendees can even learn how to shear a sheep, with world champion shearer George Graham.
This year’s event will also see the staging of the 67th World Ploughing Contest which had been due to be held in St Petersburg, Russia in August.
Twenty-six competitors from countries around the world will take part, including entrants from New Zealand, Canada and Australia.
Among all the madness, we sent two of our finest to Ratheniska to ask one very simple question:
‘Who is your favourite Laois footballer of all time?’
Steven Miller was on the microphone and Paul Dargan was the man behind the camera.
There were a wide variety of answers from those who took part – with even some former county players having their say.
