The weather co-operated, the crowds turned out and there was a wonderful atmosphere in Portlaoise on Saturday afternoon for the first Laois Pride parade through the town.
Businesses on the main street in Portlaoise in particular had supported the event and as part of their sponsorship support they were given a window display of flags and bunting which showed their support for the local LGBT+ community.
The parade in Portlaoise was the culmination of a week-long schedule of event.
Saturday started with a Pride breakfast in the Bay Tree restaurant from 10.30am, followed by the Pride parade in Portlaoise from 12pm and then leading into a fun-filled family friendly Pride festival in Fitzmaurice Place from 1-5pm, with music and entertainment.
The week ended with an over-18s drag queen extravaganza in Kavanaghs Bar and Venue.
Our photographer Paul Dargan was in Portlaoise where he captured a wonderful selection of images.
