The figures related to property crime in Laois have more than doubled in comparison to 12 months ago.
The stats were revealed at a recent meeting of the Joint Policing Committee by Chief Superintendent John Scanlan.
The biggest rise was in the amount of thefts from shops which was up more than 300% year on year.
There 157 incidents of theft from shops in the second quarter of this year in comparison to 38 for the same period last year.
Thefts from vehicles went up from 12 to 28 while interfering with vehicles also increased from one to eight.
There were six incidents of robbery from the person in comparison to three 12 months ago.
13 vehicles were stolen in the first quarter of the year in comparison to eight last year.
There was mixed news on the Crimes Against The Person category.
The number of minor assaults dropped from 94 last year to 56 in the first quarter of this year.
But the number of assaults causing harm increased from 23 to 31.
While the number of threats to kill or cause serious harm went up from four in quarter one last year to ten this time.
