Heywood Community School has recognised the achievements of eight of their students who excelled in the Leaving Cert recently.
Principal Philip Bowe was joined by Deputy Principals Mary Harrington and Peter Malone last week.
The trio welcomed the students into the school to meet with some of their subject teachers and to celebrate their achievements.
James Ryan, Matthew Bergin, Cathal Lynam, Andrew Delaney, Brian Walshe, Rachel Dooley, Orla Dunne and Laura Vesey were all in attendance.
2022 will always be remembered by all in Heywood as an incredible year as their Senior footballers claimed All-Ireland glory.
Cathal Lynam, one of those above, was an integral member of that team so it was something of a double celebration for him.
123 Leaving Certificate students received their results at Heywood Community School this year.
The school reported a substantial number of students taking the higher level paper in Mathematics encouraged by the bonus of 25 points on offer for all grades.
Principal Bowe was of the opinion that taking transition year was a contributing factor to success for many students, and that the adjustments made to Leaving Certificate papers as a result of Covid 19 also contributed to the very good results in the school.
Students did very well in all subjects both the academic and the practical.
Results in Irish and the modern languages reflected the percentages allotted to the oral examinations, particularly Irish which awards 40% for the oral.
The Principal stressed that all students realizing their potential, and being contented with their results was the most important factor for the school.
He wished to thank parents for their support of the school and the teachers and SNA staff for their hard work and commitment.
