The Leaving Cert results for 2022 were announced on Friday and the good news continues to reach us from Laois schools.
St Fergal’s in Rathdowney and Colaiste Iosagain in Portarlington are the latest to express their delight with their students.
In St Fergal’s, Cormac Kirby-Ó Colmáin secured 589 points and is planning to pursue studies in Maths and Physics.
Ella Hayes secured 566 points and plans to study Sports Rehabilitation.
While Borris-Kilcotton hurler Philip Tynan received 555 points and Errill’s Harry Wynne got 520 points. Both intend to pursue a career in accountancy.
Principal Gerry Quinn said: “We are very pleased with the Leaving Certificate results our students received.
“There are many individual success stories across the board, including students who secured well over 500 CAO points.
“All our LCA students received Distinctions. Full credit to the students, their parents and to our teachers.
“This was a particularly resilient and positive year group who dealt very well with the many challenges presented by Covid-19.
“The same can also be said for their teachers and parents.
“We wish them all the best in their various career paths and their lives ahead.”
Meanwhile, Colaiste Iosagain in Portarlington reported similarly impressive results.
The school are currently in the process of recruiting a new principal with the role expected to be filled in October.
Deputy Principal Brendan McGlynn expressed his delight for all of the students.
A high number of them excelled with Ruth Whittle pictured above, being one of four who attained over 600 points – she hopes to study Commerce in NUI Galway.
Mr McGlynn said: “Our LC class of 2022 received their results last Friday. The teachers are very proud of all of our students and the excellent results they achieved.
“A large % of our students attained in excess of 450 points. Our LCA students excelled with their results with over 90% attaining distinctions and 3 students receiving full marks.
“The Management Team wish to acknowledge the work ethic of the LC class of 2022 and the Team effort of the teaching staff to ensure that every student that attends Colaiste Iosagain reach their potential.
“Congratulations and well done to all involved.”
