Talk about an atmosphere!
After three long years, Electric Picnic has returned to Laois and with thousands of festival-goers descending on Stradbally, the fun and atmospheric vibe duly returned too.
While the early entrants arrived on Thursday, Friday is really the start of it.
And all through the day there was a wonderful buzz about the venue.
We captured some of the excitement with a walk around the site with our photographer Paul Dargan.
From the campsites to the main stage, the food area, Trailer Park, Salty Dog, Freetown and Mind and Body, it was as if the past two years had never happened.
Denise Chaila and Dermot Kennedy were the big attractions but all across the vast venue – which has been slightly expanded by moving the main stage back somewhat.
On Friday the weather co-operated with glorious early autumn conditions.
Rain is forecast to come today and through the night.
But for an opening day, it was all we’d hoped for and remembered.
Bring on the next two days!
