A talented Ukrainian artist is exhibiting her incredible works in the Portlaoise Parish Centre until Friday September 2.
Oksana Rohovska is originally from Lviv in Western Ukraine where she lived with her family before the war.
Oksana, who came to Portlaoise at the beginning of the war, is a member of the Ukrainian Union of Artists and paints not only paintings and portraits, but also wall murals.
She is mother to four daughters and likes to draw nature, especially flowers and children.
Her love of art began as a child, noticing the special shapes and shades of colour of different flowers.
Oksana says she likes to bring a sense of light and warmth to her paintings and it is part of the uniqueness of her works—light and warmth, she says, is so often lacking in our hearts amidst the chaos and frenetic pace of life.
Some of Oksana’s paintings are scenes from Ukraine and portray the chaos and sadness of the War.
But Oksana has also been struck by the natural beauty of Ireland, the country where she has taken refuge from the murder, mayhem and destruction of the War in her home country.
In the relatively short time she has been her she has captured this beauty in her art work.
Oksana’s exhibition was launched last weekend and you can check out some great pictures from
