A Laois teenager was left in hospital following an assault that occurred in Mountmellick recently.
Gardai were called to the Church Street area of the town at 9.50pm last Thursday – August 18.
They discovered an injured teenager and he was subsequently transferred to Tullamore Hospital.
He was then sent to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where it is understood that his condition improved.
Gardai then launched an investigation and subsequently arrested two other male teenagers who were aged below 18.
They were subsequently released pending a file to the Youth Diversion Programme.
A spokesperson said: “Gardaí attended an incident of assault that occurred at approximately 9:50pm on the 18th of August 2022 in the Church Street area of Mountmellick, Co Laois.
“One male juvenile aged in his teens was conveyed to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment on non-life threatening injuries sustained as a result of this incident.
“Two male juveniles both aged in their teens were arrested.
“They were later released pending file to the Youth Diversion Programme in relation to this incident.”
