Portlaoise Institute is delighted to offer a new QQI Level 5 in Business Sustainability & Environmental Studies.
This course will give learners the opportunity to develop business skills that can complement areas such climate change, renewable energy and sustainability.
The environment is the burning issue of the 21 century and is now a significant growth area for employment. Large and small organisations are now investing sums of money to meet the stringent environmental laws imposed on them and this investment will only expand.
This course also compliments the Urban Regeneration and Development strategy that recently invested €9m in the Portlaoise Low Carbon Town Centre Project.
Qualified learners will be well placed to support local businesses to recognise opportunities from substantial investment in infrastructure, transport and connectivity, quality and location of housing, recreational and cultural facilities.
Deputy Principal Keith McClearn commented: “Environment Studies and Business combines the study of sustainability and environmental issues with business areas such as marketing, economics and entrepreneurship. Businesses are now addressing environmental issues that are impacting our community so now is a great opportunity to respond positively and link environmental change to the business sector”.
“There are no other QQI courses in Ireland ordering modules in Environmental Studies, Renewable Energy Systems and Sustainable Development that will allow learners to gain a full QQI major award”.
“Our new Business Sustainability & Environmental Studies course will be a highly rewarding, challenging and fascinating area of study and many graduates will be able to use it to pursue work in this growing field of learning”
Modules include Environmental Studies, Renewable Energy Systems, Sustainable Development, Digital Marketing, Business Administration Skills, Applied Economics, Teamworking, Work Experience and Safety and Health at Work.
