After a three-year hiatus, the Ossory Show returned last weekend – and one new feature as the Irish Belgian blue cattle-breeding society brought their all Ireland competitions to the event.
Exhibitors from as far away as Cork, Mayo and Wexford attended and competed in the all Ireland competitions across the five different categories with 48 calves in total taking part.
Setting the pace was the All Ireland Belgian Blue breeding heifer Tapped Out as champion by judge Samuel Cleland, Don Oreo sired by Imperial Del’Ecluse, off an Empire D’ochain bred pedigree blue cow.
There was even a local winner – with Billy Dunne from Errill winning the September-born male calf competition.
First Up – The September-born female calf All Ireland champion Kilcombe Philly sired by Imperial Del’Ecluse off a Langoureaux De Fooz bred cow.
Second Up – The September-born male calf All Ireland champion Errill Pimp, owned by Billy Dunne from Errill, sired by KYR off a Gitan-bred cow.
Third up – The January 2022-born famale calf All Ireland champion Rathlyon Queen sired by Visconti De Saint Fontaine off a Gitan-bred cow
Final competition – the January 2022-born male calf All Ireland champion Bridgeview Quinn sired by General De Cluse off a Cromwel Fent-bred cow
