It is the off season in the soccer world and a number of teams are holding award ceremonies.
The latest of these was Portlaoise AFC who held theirs at their club grounds in Rossleighan last Friday.
They compete in the Midlands Schoolboys League alongside clubs predominantly from Laois, Offaly and Westmeath – plus parts of Tipperary and Galway.
T&S had teams at U-10, U-11, U-12, U-13, U-14, U-15 and U-16 this season as well as an academy catering for children of all ages.
Some teams are mixed and some are boys and girls only.
After two Covid-19 hit years, this was the first full season of games with action beginning last August and concluding in May.
League soccer in Ireland is non-competitive up to U-12 so all children playing on teams below that received a participation medal from the MSL.
Portlaoise had plenty of success in competitive leagues with their U-14 girls taking the spotlight.
They claimed SFAI All-Ireland glory last month as well as various MSL trophies too.
