Portlaoise College held their Award Ceremonies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th Year students recently.
Normally there would have one award evening for all year groups, however because of the growth of the school it was decided to divide the ceremonies up into Year Groups.
The team of Year Heads and Tutors organised each ceremony and presented awards to their students.
Principal Noel Daly said: “Our Awards ceremonies are an opportunity for the school to acknowledge students who excelled during the course of the academic year.
“We take pride in every student who comes through our doors and our awards cover a very extensive spectrum of categories.
“Our awards are aimed not just to reward academic achievement but also recognise those who are courteousness, kind, empathic and even inspirational in their interaction with teachers and fellow students.
“The school is privileged to have a student body within which such students are in abundance.”
Because of the huge successes Portlaoise College has had outside the classroom this year, the school are staging an Evening of Extra Curricular Excellence.
This will celebrate the extracurricular achievements of the students and will take place on Wednesday May 25 at 7pm.
In addition, the academic successes of the Leaving Certificate class will be celebrated at their Graduation on Thursday May 26.
