There was a great buzz in Portarlington Credit Union last Friday as they launched their new Current Account and Debit Card services.
With bank branches closing and even withdrawing from Ireland, the role of Credit Unions has rarely been so important.
And new services like those offered now in Portarlington are sure to warmly welcomed across Irish society.
Manager Michael McEvoy and the Credit Union’s staff welcomed customers and local community representatives as they officially launched the new services.
Among those in attendance were local councillors Aidan Mullins and Eddie Fitzpatrick as well as Offaly footballer Peter Cunningham and representatives from the likes of O’Dempsey’s, Portarlington, Gracefield and St Conleth’s football clubs.
And in the age-old welcoming atmosphere of Credit Unions, all were treated to refreshments as they mingled and chatted.
