The annual Tom Kinsella Memorial Christmas Convoy Road Run was a huge success with €10,000 raised for Laois Hospice.
Knock Vintage Men’s Shed and Ballyroan Vintage Club joined forces in order to make the event happen on St Stephen’s Day at the end of last year.
Tom is originally from Ballyroan but lived in Spink. He sadly passed away in 2015 and Tom availed of the services of Laois Hospice.
As a result, Tom’s friends and family have been inspired to fundraise for the charity whenever they can.
The tractor run began at the GAA pitch in Ballyroan, headed from Spink to Timahoe and then back to Ballyroan – with more than 150 tractors taking part.
Everyone who bought tickets was then entered into a raffle with the draw taking place in Whelan’s Pub in Ballyroan afterwards.
Michael Dalton scooped the €1,000 first price while Aisling Keyes took the €500 second price with Kieran Brophy scoring the €250 third prize.
Recently, a cheque for €10,000 was presented to Laois Hospice in recognition of the Laois Hospice Home Care Team.
Dan Kinsella (chairman Ballyroan Vintage), Colin Kinsella (Tom’s son), Mary Finlay (treasurer Laois Hospice) Laura Kinsella and Niall Headen (chairman Knock Vintage Men’s Shed) were all present.
Members of the Kinsella family, members of Ballyroan Vintage, members of Knock Vintage Mens Shed and representatives of Laois Hospice were also there.
Fair play to all involved!
