The Laois and Kildare footballers do battle in Dr Cullen Park in Carlow this evening with an O’Byrne Cup final place against Dublin up for grabs.
The game will be Laois’s fourth outing in 12 days as the busy pre-season schedule follows on from games against Wexford, Meath and Wicklow.
Laois opened with a heavy 6-10 to 0-13 loss to Wexford down in Shelmaliers.
However, they have since responded with wins over Meath and Wicklow to advance to the knockout stages.
Like Laois, Kildare are also under new management this season.
Former player Glen Ryan is over them and assisted by a selection of former high-profile playing colleagues including Dermot Earley, Johnny Doyle and Anthony Rainbow.
Kildare, who will play in Division 1 of the league this year and open their campaign at home to Kerry on Sunday week, have had big wins over Westmeath and Carlow to reach this phase of the competition.
Kildare have the upper hand on Laois in recent meetings including a big win in last year’s Division 2 meeting in Portlaoise.

The game throws in at 7.30pm and we’ll have updates throughout.
