There was huge excitement in one Laois school today as the children received the best surprise ever to finish their term.
Santa Claus himself was present in Rath NS and he arrived via helicopter.
With Rudolph and the rest of their reindeer resting up ahead of their big trip on Friday, Santa made his way to the Laois school in an unconventional way.
He enlisted the help of Ciarán Reilly, dad to students Lucy and Sam, and availed of his helicopter.
To great fanfare, Santa arrived this morning and landed in spectacular style on the pitch.
He greeted the children, posed for pictures and promised them all some presents would be waiting for them on Christmas Day.
Several parents, who contacted LaoisToday, explained how their children truly enjoyed the experience.
And after two very difficult Covid-19-hit school years, something like this will live very long in the memories of all.
It comes just a day after the children completed a 5km Santa Dash where they raised money for charity – something that Santa himself was very impressed by.
Meanwhile, children at Rath NS will feature on the RTÉ Kids YouTube channel this Christmas with their version of the classic Let it Snow.
As the station gets ready to show Home School Hub: A Christmas Cracker on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player on Christmas Day, it’s featuring bonus material including this Bing Crosby classic performed by the first class pupils at the Laois school.
They worked very hard under teachers Ms O’Connell, Ms Galvin and Ms Phelan. You can tune in to RTÉ2 on Christmas Day at 5.25pm.
