There was a magical atmosphere in Stradbally on Sunday afternoon for the town’s first Christmas market and the official turning on of the Christmas lights.
The visit of Santa Claus, who arrived in a horse drawn carriage through the town, was a highlight.
But so too was the presence of renowned singer Jack L, who is from nearby Athy and has strong connections to Stradbally.
An impressive Christmas market was held on Court Square throughout the afternoon where the festive spirit was very much in evidence.
Students from St Colman’s NS and Cosby NS performed on stage alongside Jack L, who was interviewed by Grainne Buggy.
Ann Simpson from Stradbally Tidy Towns also addressed the crowd.
She paid tribute to all of the local volunteers who have worked tirelessly in recent weeks to light up the town, with a particular word of praise for Niall Walker.
Throughout the day there was a steady flow of people to sample the offerings of the various stalls.
Photographer Ross Molloy was on hand to capture a selection of images.
You can check these out below while Ross has also put together a video of the day’s events.
