There was a fantastic atmosphere in Shanganamore National School this morning following a visit from some very special people.
Members of the Barrowhouse football team visited the 112 boys and girls.
Goalkeeper Dara Phelan alongside midfielders TJ Burke and Martin Murphy spoke to the students about the importance of their support on Sunday.
Barrowhouse face Ballyroan-Abbey in the Junior A final in O’Moore Park at 1.30pm.
And there wasn’t a child in the school who wasn’t decked out in the Barrowhouse colours.
Many of them have brothers or cousins on the team and that makes the occasion all the more special for them.
Shanganamore NS is a five teacher school which originally occupied the building set within the adjacent church
grounds, now the local community hall.
The current school building was built in 1999 and officially opened by TD John Moloney in May of that year.
In recent times, the school’s library was converted into a dedicated ASD Unit which further caters for the needs of children in the area.
The school was originally a one, then two teacher school but now has a total of five mainstream class teachers and two Resource/Learning Support teachers.
Principal Pauline Lawlor promised the children no homework on Monday should Barrowhouse win – so no pressure lads!
