Clonad GAA and CRG camogie hosted the second Laois Pumpkin Patch event over the Sunday and Monday of the October Bank Holiday weekend.
It once again proved to be a great success as people came from all over Leinster and even further to attend the event.
The event had a booking system this year which fully booked out leading up to the weekend.
Around 1,500 pumpkins were sold over the two days with proceeds going to the Clonad juvenile club and CRG camogie club.
There were helpers on hand to assist people if they wanted to have their scary or happy faces carved onto their pumpkins before they got home.
There was much more than just pumpkins to attract people to Clonad with plenty of activities to keep the children entertained such as smash the pumpkin, building their own scarecrow and trying to find their way through the haunted maze.
Some additions this year included a busking station, which provided an opportunity for some of the club’s talented musicians to show off their talents outside of hurling, and Laura Doran with her craft stand.
Hot drinks and food were available as well as some tasty homemade goods cooked up by the excellent bakers in the club.
A spokesperson said: “The club would like to thank Hogan’s butchers for sponsoring the meat and also, Deirdre Delaney for supplying apples, jams and chutneys.
“The club were delighted to be able to run the event again this year after missing out due to COVID regulations last year.
“It is proving to be a very popular family day out with lots of positive feedback being received on social media.
“Portlaoise Plaza kindly sponsored vouchers for the best picture from each day.”
