Formerly of Palmerstown, Dublin and Droughill, Portarlington, County Laois and late of Dublin Institute of Advanced Studies. Michael passed away peacefully at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Dublin, on Saturday, 9th of October, following a long battle with cancer. Loving son of Patrick and the late Maura Smyth. Sadly missed by his loving father Patrick, sisters, brothers, his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Requiem Mass in St Philomena’s Church, Palmerstown, Dublin 20, on Wednesday, 13th October, at 11.30am, for family and friends (church limited to 50% capacity). Walsh, Stradbrook Apartments and late of Dysart, Portlaoise. (Suddenly) October 11th 2021, at Portlaoise Regional Hospital. Niall, beloved son of Pat and Tess. Loving brother to Fiona and Colum. Deeply regretted by his loving family, brother in law Neil, sister in law Maria, his nieces and nephews Alex, Fynn, Ashling, Erika and Freya, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends.
Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home on this Tuesday evening from 7 pm with rosary at 8 pm. Removal on Wednesday to arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church for 12 noon requiem Mass. Government Covid rules still apply.

Spollenstown, Tullamore, Offaly / Ballybrophy, Laois
Mairead Phelan, Spollenstown, Tullamore, Co. Offaly and formerly Garron Castle, Ballybrophy, Co. Laois. October 10th 2021. Peacefully at Tullamore Regional Hospital. Predeceased by her parents William and Mary and her sister Marian. Sadly mourned by her brothers and sisters Liam, John, Con, Ann and Bernie, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Reposing at Lawless’s Funeral Home, Mucklagh, Tullamore R35 C5P6 on Tuesday evening from 4pm with removal at 6pm to The Church of The Assumption, Tullamore arriving at 6.30. Please take note that Mairead’s funeral mass will take place in St. Canice’s Church, Borris-in-Ossory on Wednesday at 11 am followed by interment in Derrinsallagh cemetery Borris-in-Ossory.

FINLAY, Vera Mary Elizabeth (Portlaoise), October 10, 2021, after a long illness. Much loved wife of the late Sydney Perry Finlay and dear mother of Hueston and Perry; beloved grandmother of Svea, Rebecca, Robert, Lars, Sarah, Karsten and Alyson and mother-in-law to Annegret and Jonathan. She will be sadly missed by her brother Victor, relatives and friends.
Funeral at St. Peter’s Church, Market Sq. Portlaoise, Tuesday, October 12, at 2.30pm. Family flowers only.

Formerly of Luggacurren, Co.Laois. Peacefully. Loving husband of Nuala and dear father of Ronald and Raymond. Pre-deceased by his dear wife Hazel (Veighey). He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, sons ,grand-daughter Leonie, sister Edie (Trim), brothers Thomas (New Zealand) and Alex (Mountrath), daughters-in-law Elaine and Lorna , brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Reposing at his home on Tuesday at 2pm until 8pm. Funeral Service at his home on Wednesday at 12pm, followed by burial in Newcastle Cemetery arriving at 1.15pm approx. Family and friends are welcome to attend the funeral but are reminded of hand and cough etiquette and social distancing.

Abrama, Aina, Beechfield, Portlaoise. Peacefully at Tullamore Regional Hospital. October 7th 2021 Surrounded by her loving family. Dearly loved mother to Kaspars. Cherished mother in law to Kristine. Adoring grandmother to Elizabeth, Stefanie and Emily. Deeply regretted by all her loving family in Ireland and Latvia.
Reposing at Keegans Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5 pm till 6.30pm. Funeral prayers will be recited at 6 pm Interment will take place in Newlands on Tuesday. Covid restrictions still apply, please adhere to social distancing.
Eilish Hughes
San Francisco and Borris Road Portlaoise
Eilish died peacefully on 7th October, (age 83) in San Francisco after a 55 year nursing career.
Predeceased by her parents, Joe and Frances Hughes, her sister Mary Brady and her brother John.
Fondly remembered by her sisters Frances Taaffe (Mullingar), Kathleen Feely (Skerries) and Margaret Quigley (Galway), her brother, Jim (Garrykennedy) by her brothers in law, Jack Taaffe, Kevin Feely, Alo Brady, Tom Quigley and her sister in law Mary Jo Hughes (Portlaoise). Also by her many nieces, nephews and her many cousins.
Funeral arrangement will follow when her ashes reach Ireland.
