Laois County Council invites you to take part in a consultation to help shape the development of a Masterplan for lands at Stradbally Road, Portlaoise.
To capture a diverse set of opinions, experiences and ideas that are representative of the local community, Laois County Council are seeking submissions on the Draft ‘Stradbally Road Masterplan’.
The Draft Masterplan has been developed by Laois County Council working in conjunction with the appointed multi-disciplinary Design Team and has been informed by a previous consultation with stakeholders and the local community.
It seeks to establish an ambitious vision for these Council owned lands that will help to deliver a highly sustainable and integrated quarter adjoining the Town Centre of Portlaoise in accordance with the site’s land use zonings, namely: “New Proposed Residential”; “Open Space & Amenity”; and “Community, Educational & Institutional”.
The ambitious vision for these lands can be summarised as follows:
“Creation of a new sustainable residential community along with high quality passive open spaces and an active community zone for the benefit and enjoyment of all who live and work in, and visit, Portlaoise.
“The Masterplan seeks to integrate and connect the new sustainable community with Portlaoise town, the People’s Park, the surrounding residential areas and the existing natural and built environment in a sensitive manner.
“The Masterplan incorporates a mix of residential units in response to local housing needs and has been designed to ensure that it will be resilient and respectful to relevant economic, social, environmental and climate change considerations”.
The Draft Masterplan is available to view online here and can be viewed in person at the Council’s offices and the Portlaoise Library.

The period for submissions will be open from Monday, 27 September 2021 until 5pm on Monday, October 25, 2021.
