What a busy weekend that was!
Three county finals from 2020 and an All Ireland intermediate ladies football semi-final.
And because there’s so much to talk about, we’ve split our Monday Talking Sport Podcast out in to two episodes this week – one for football and one for hurling, where Alan, Steven and Damien reflect on the senior and premier intermediate finals.
For the football we’re joined by Chris Conway to look back on Portarlington’s dominant display that saw them beat Graiguecullen 1-15 to 0-7 to win their first senior championship since 2001.
We reflect on the early black card for Graigue and the impact that had on the game – but Port were on top across the field and really delivered in style on the big day.
Can they now go on and win the 2021 championship, which begins in under three weeks time?
Away from Port’s manic celebrations, Alan was in Nowlan Park in Kilkenny where the Laois ladies football team were beaten by Wexford in the All Ireland semi-final.
The defeat brings an end to an eventful season but was it an opportunity lost to make it to Croke Park for All Ireland final day? Or can Laois regroup and come back stronger in 2022?
You can listen to the latest episode in full below on Soundcloud or on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
