May of many weathers has certainly lived up to its saying this year.
We’ve had wind, rain, thunderstorms and even hailstones at times – and it has been unseasonably chilly for most of the month too.
But that is all set to change this week as warm and settled conditions are finally on the horizon.
According to Met Eireann, temperatures will slowly rise this week before hitting 20 degrees by Sunday.
They say: “Saturday will have good dry periods and sunny spells, however scattered showers will develop during the day.
“Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees with light southerly breezes. Becoming mostly dry and clear overnight.
“Early indications suggest Sunday will have dry and sunny spells in many areas with a few showers around during the day. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees.”
Met Eireann’s prediction is back up by local forecaster Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather.
He Tweeted: “Sunday could a day for the beach.
“Looks like some decent heat but little far out yet and we have seen how things can go downhill. The butchers might want to get the burgers planned though.”
With outdoor dining set to resume on June 7, an improvement in weather is very much welcome!
