There has been five further Coronavirus-related deaths and 461 new cases, according to figures released by the health authorities today.
The Department are no longer providing a county by county breakdown at the weekends. So we do not know how many of these new cases are in Laois.
Of the cases notified today:
- 235 are men / 224 are women
- 75% are under 45 years of age
- The median age is 28 years old
As of 8am today, 162 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 46 are in ICU. 9 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
As of April 22nd 2021, 1,317,165 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland:
- 934,980 people have received their first dose
- 382,185 people have received their second dose

25% of adults have now received Covid-19 vaccine
25% of adults in Ireland have now received at least their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
A total of 41,337 vaccines were administered on Thursday, the highest number of vaccines administered in a single day so far in the rollout.
The total number of vaccines administered in Ireland now stands at 1,317,165. 934,980 of these are first doses, with 382,185 being second doses.
