The SVT Hub in Stradbally, Vicarstown and Timahoe was very busy once again last weekend.
Following on from the successful St Patrick’s Day event, a challenge was designed to get people back on their bikes.
Clubs and groups were asked to form teams of 10 (or 20 if they are all primary school age), and time themselves for a 1 mile cycle.
The 10 individual times were added to make the team time, and fastest teams declared the winners.
Racing bikes, mountain bikes, hybrid bikes, new, old and bikes that hadn’t seen the light of day in ages were hauled out – and well over 200 people recorded a time for the mile (or half mile for the primary school kids)
12 Ladies Teams participated – The Buggie School of Dancing had dancers and mammys out, Annanough GAA ladies had a team while the Stradbally Women on Wheels were pedalling too.
Timahoe Ladies Football had two teams and the girls of the Youth Sport Leaders also had a team.
In the end Oughaval AC mammies were the winners, Timahoe Ladies football were second with SVT Canoeing and Kayaking Ladies in third place.
Eight mens teams competed, Timahoe Le Cheile and Round Tower Rovers kept the red flags flying, Annanough had juveniles, youth and daddies while Oughaval had adults, secondary school and primary school teams.
Oughaval Adults were the winners, with Round Tower Rovers in second place and Annanough Youths Team in third place.
