A Laois GAA club who ran a successful fundraiser in aid of the staff of Portlaoise Hospital at the start of the month, have presented their proceeds.
Colt GAA invited members and those in their community to take part in a 5km walk in the first week of March and make a donation to their fundraiser.
All money raised was then to be passed onto staff in a bid to say ‘thank you’ for all of their work during the pandemic.
PRO Nathan Dunne said: “We managed to raise €1,150 for the staff of Portlaoise hospital.
“This is due to the fantastic effort by members of our club, Tobar An Leinn national school and AD Contracting.”
Catherine Keane, assistant director of nursing accepted the cheque on behalf of Sandra McCarthy Director of Nursing and Michael Knowles General Manager.
She said: “Sincere thanks to all in Colt GAA for their very generous donation to the staff at Portlaoise hospital.
“The money will be used to furnish a staff room, the staff are very grateful and appreciative of this very generous gesture.”
PRO Nathan Dunne was delighted to hear that the money would be put to good use.
He said: “It is great to learn that our fundraising will be put to good use for the staff of the hospital.
“Once again a big thank you to all who donated to our worthy cause.
