Three people ‘abscond’ for mandatory quarantine hotel
Gardai have launched an investigation after three people left a mandatory quarantine hotel in Dublin today.
The three absconded from the Crowne Plaza Hotel and while it is understood that one has been located, the search for the other two continues.
The new quarantine rules came into affect from 4am on Friday and anyone who does not comply can be fined up to €2,000 or face a prison sentence of up to one month.
Gardai say: “An Garda Síochána are this afternoon liaising with the State Laison Officer at a designated quarantine facility in the Dublin area, in accordance with current protocols.
“As the Department of Health are the lead agency in relation to the management of mandatory quarantining, An Garda Síochána will not be commenting further at this time. ”
