Road repair, tree trimming and flooding were three issues that arose at the recent meeting of the Borris-In-Ossory/Mountmellick municipal district.
Fianna Fail Councillor Seamus McDonald mentioned issues in three Laois villages.
In Ballyfin, Cllr McDonald requested that Laois County Council repair the road at Brockera, Ballyfin. This road, he says, was taken in charge in 1987.
In reply, senior engineer Edmund Kenny said Laois County Council would review the legacy roads schedule to confirm if this road was previously taken in charge.
In Cllr McDonald’s second motion, he requested the council trim back trees at Hillside, Clonaslee also at Slieve Bloom Park.
He said: “The height of the trees is impacting on the lights in both estates.
“Many residents have contacted me to see if something can be done.”
Cllr McDonald also asked that the flooding problem at Clonduff, Rosenallis ‘be resolved’.
In reply to both of these motions, senior engineer Edmund Kenny said he would meet Cllr McDonald at both locations to assess what needs to be done.
