Five Laois teenagers have come together to record a stunning cover of a hit song by a popular Irish band.
Kodaline’s ‘Brand New Day’ has been remastered by five female members of Music Generation Laois – Holly Kavanagh, Mia Gavigan, Mairéad Keane, Ellen Rowney and Anna Kelly.
Lead singer Holly, who also plays the guitar, is from The Heath and attends Scoil Chriost Ri.
Ellen Rowney on bass and Mairead Keane on the electric guitar are both from Ballyfin and attend Mountrath Community School.
While Mia Gavigan, acoustic guitar and vocals, and Ana Kelly, drums, are both from Portlaoise and go to Dunamase College.
Music Generation Laois are celebrating Irish music all this week and the girls got together – while staying apart – to record this track.
They each recorded their piece from their homes and the brilliant Denise Boyle of Music Generation Laois stitched it all together.
They chose the song as it symbolises hope for the better times that hopefully are ahead of us all.
A spokesperson for Music Generation Laois said: “We are so proud of this group.
“What a performance and great choice of song for the times we live in.”
