Marie Rogers (née Lynch)
Gortnalee, Rathdowney, Laois
Marie Rogers (née Lynch), Whitebeam Lodge, Gortnalee, Rathdowney, Co. Laois. March 6th 2021. Peacefully following a short illness in the tender care of the nurses and staff of Aut Even Hospital, Kilkenny. Sadly missed by her loving husband Brendan and her children Samantha, Murray and Alex, sisters-in-law, Ina, Hillary and Pauline, Brothers-in-law Michael and Dermot, nephews, nieces and her many wonderful friends.
As per the COVID-19 directive, a private funeral has been arranged. Due to the increased risk of infection and in compliance with current guidelines you are asked not to congregate in the Churchyard or the Cemetery.
The funeral Mass will be livestreamed (http://parishwebsites.ie/rathdowney/) from The Church Of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney, on Tuesday at 2pm, followed by interment in Bealady Cemetery, Rathdowney.
Joseph Cantwell
Kyle, Durrow, Laois
Peacefully at Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise in his 99th year. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing wife Violet, sister Florrie, sons Winston and Andrew and their partners Marina and Olive, nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends.
In accordance with HSE guidelines, Joe’s funeral will take place in St. Fintan’s Church, Durrow at 3pm on Monday 8th of March.
Due to increased risk of infection, you are asked not to congregate in the churchyard in the interest of public safety and in compliance with current guidelines of 10 people only in church and churchyard.
Hilda Cantwell (née Neale)
Crettyard, Laois
Great Barr, Birmingham, England, and formerly of Crettyard, Co. Laois. Peacefully holding hands with her daughter. Much loved mother of Olive and Wesley. Predeceased by her husband Albert, brothers Leeson, William & James, sisters Lottie Melbourne & Ida Stanley.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, son, sister Emily Stanley, grandchildren Paul, Andrew, Vanessa & husband Adam, great grandson Samuel, son-in-law Stephen, daughter-in-law Linda, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews & relatives.
To be cremated in Birmingham and ashes to be interred in Ballyfin, Co. Laois at a future date.
Alice Victoria McEvoy (née Hughes)
Davin Park, Mountmellick, Laois
Peacefully in the care of the nurses and staff of The Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise.
Predeceased by her loving husband Joe. Deeply regretted by her daughter Teresa and partner Fergus, son Liam and partner Karen, son in law Jimmy, grandchildren Shane, Roisin and Emer and great-granddaughter Ruby, her sisters Kathleen and Esther, her brothers Eamon, Noel and Joe, sisters in law, nieces and nephews, neighbours relatives and a large circle of friends.
Alice’s funeral arrangements will be announced on Monday.
Tom Finn
Blackrock, Dublin/Errill, Laois
Tom Finn, late of Blackrock, Dublin and formerly Errill, Co. Laois and An Garda Síochana passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on 3rd March, 2021, at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin, following a short illness, fought with great dignity and courage. Beloved husband of Maura, most cherished father of John, Jimmy, Denise and Patricia, adored Popa Tom of Ella and Matthew, dearly loved by his son-in-law Philip, Jimmy’s partner Vera, dear family friend Gillian, sister-in-law Ann, nephews Michael, Matty and John, nieces Mary and Eileen, special godson Peadar and his brother-in-law Robert together with his family. Predeceased by his loving brother Larry. He will be sadly missed by his family, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
The family wish to offer a special word of thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at St. Vincent’s University Hospital and his fond friend and GP Dr. Clem McCrory for the exceptional care given to Tom.
Due to current restrictions, a private family Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday (6th March) at 10.00am. This may be viewed online on churchservices.tv/foxrock. Donations, in lieu of flowers may be made to the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association.
