The annual St Stephen’s Day 5km event held by Portlaoise Atheltics Club proved to be a big success once again.
For the last number of years, people of all ages have got out to walk, run or jog the Christmas Day turkey off on December 26 in aid of the Cuisle Centre.
However, the Covid-19 pandemic changed that this year with the majority of this edition having to take place online.
But despite all of that, more than €2,000 was raised for the Cuisle Centre in Portlaoise – and one of the organisers, Aengus Burke, is delighted.
He said: “We have a fantastic final figure of €2,025.
“Brilliant work and well done to everyone who took part and/or donated to a very worthy cause – including the dogs.
“Special mention also to Paul Cuddy and FBD for their donation to kick things off again this year.
“Happy New Year to everyone and hopefully 2021 will bring better times.”
