A group of people who destroyed a house in Laois earlier this month are planning another illegal rave on New Year’s Eve.
The Irish Times is reporting that a house in Laois was rented on Airbnb on December 12 and was then used to hold a ticketed party – blatantly against Covid-19 rules.
The owner of the property, called the Round House which is located near Stradbally, had unknowingly rented the home to the group via Airbnb, and later found the home wrecked, littered with empty beer cans and bottles, used nitrous oxide canisters and other rubbish all over the place.
Lisa Wilkinson, whose partner owns the home, told the Irish Times that they had rented the property to a person who claimed he wanted to rent the house for a weekend hiking trip with work colleagues.
In a video posted on the Irish Times site, Ms Wilkinson explains the damage done and shows how her garden was also torn up.
Video purportedly from the party, which was advertised as being in a mansion, shows a number of people dancing as if they were in a nightclub.
Around 80 people are believed to have attended this and they are each understood to have paid €30 each.
Using private Instagram and Snapchat accounts, the group behind this rave are now planning another one in Dublin on New Year’s Eve.
This is being advertised as being in a ‘warehouse’ with DJs and a bar.
Under the current Level 5 Covid-19 regulations, no organised indoor gatherings are permitted.
It is an offence to organise gatherings in contravention of public health guidelines, with fines ranging from €500 up to €2,500, or six months in prison on conviction.
