A further 206 confirmed cases of Coronavirus and seven new deaths have been announced by the health authorities this evening.
There were fout new cases in Laois meaning the 14-day incidence rate in the county is 57.9 – up from 54.3 of yesterday.
The Laois 14-day rate was 99.2 this time last week. The current national average is 98.
There are now 49 active cases in Laois, up from 46 yesterday. It was 111 two weeks ago.
Of the cases notified today;
- 101 are men / 105 are women
- 67% are under 45 years of age
- The median age is 34 years old
- 64 in Dublin, 23 in Limerick, 20 in Donegal, 18 in Cork, 14 in Louth, 14 in Meath, and the remaining 53 cases in 18 counties.
As of 2pm today 248 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 35 are in ICU. 10 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

Data on schools updated
A total of 2,384 students and staff underwent testing for Covid-19 at 147 schools in the last week – with 31 people found to have the virus.
The data is contained in the first weekly ‘Covid-19 schools mass testing report’ published on the website of the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.
It means a total of 21,130 children and workers have been tested in 789 schools since they reopened in September.
It brings to 501 the total number of cases detected as a result of school testing. This is an overall positivity rate of 2.4%.
