The Graiguecullen GAA club may be starved of success at senior level but the club always have plenty to shout about with the seniors and underage teams invariably making it to the latter stages of the championship.
In 2010 their senior team were narrowly beaten by Arles-Kilcruise in the championship semi-final while they won both the minor and U-21 titles.
Their minor team had dominated all through the age grades up along and duly won that year’s county title in considerable style.
And their U-21s – with many of those minor players on board – won a thrilling final late in the year against Ballylinan-Glenmore.
That U-21 success came too late for their Dinner Dance which was held in mid-November but they were able to celebrate the minor triumph.
In a joyous occasion in the Seven Oaks Hotel just across the county border in Carlow, they marked that occasion in style.
The medals were presented to the victorious minor team while Sean Redmond was inducted into the club’s hall of fame.
Ten years on the club still await that senior championship breakthrough – though they are once again in the semi-finals and will be bidding to end a wait that stretches back to 1965 whenever the Laois championship gets underway again.
Photographer Alf Harvey was on hand that November night in 2010 to capture a selection of images, which you can check out in full below.
