The Transition Year students in Mountrath Community School took part in a yoga workshop recently.
The students learned the relaxing and distressing techniques of yoga and positive mindfulness, in the outdoor setting, while being socially distanced.
The coordinator Mary Gannon said that it was really important for students to learn how to cope with all the challenges of the pandemic and the pressures of life.
And according to Mary, yoga can improve focus, memory, self esteem and academic performance.
Student Eoghan Cuddy said that the workshop was really enjoyable because it was in the open air.
He was surprised how easy and interesting it was.
While fellow student Roisin Fitzpatrick said that she always wanted to learn some yoga, and after the workshop, she would definitely like to work on more yoga skills.
Ms Gannon added that yoga is about steady effort and concentration, and hopefully the students will get to experience those positive aspects in the workshop.
