The Laois nursing home at the centre of a Covid-19 outbreak has said that three residents have died from the virus in recent days.
In a statement to RTE News, management of Kilminchy Lodge Nursing Home in Portlaoise have confirmed the terrible news.
While a fourth resident is currently receiving treatment in Portlaoise Hospital.
They said: “Since the outbreak, sadly two positive Covid residents have passed away within the nursing home and these 2 deaths were reported to the Coroner.
“One resident sadly passed away in Portlaoise General Hospital.”
Last week, the nursing home was dealing with 31 cases of the virus attached to the home.
21 were residents and a further 10 were staff who had also become infected.
But they say that no further infections have been detected as a second round of testing on October 8 yielded no new cases when the results came back on October 10.
