The Leaving Cert results for 2020 were announced yesterday morning – but the good news of Laois students excelling continues to filter through.
Scoil Chriost Ri student Jill Cushen also received full marks in her exams – scoring the full 625 points in the process.
The Stradbally native becomes the fifth Laois Leaving Cert Student to bag the perfect exam score.
And in even better news for Jill, she has confirmed that she will be off to the prestigious Oxford University in England later this month.
There, she will study English Language and Literature in the oldest university in the English-speaking world.
The good news comes after we also revealed how four other students had received full marks.
Thomás Dunne of St Mary’s CBS in Portlaoise, Niamh Crowley of Scoil Chriost Ri and Martin Fitzpatrick of Mountrath Community Scholl all were awarded seven H1s – the highest possible mark that you can receive.
While Hannah Ledesma of Mountmellick Community School followed suit by scoring a remarkable 625 points.
Ballyfin-Portlaoise native Dunne hopes to go on to study Medicine in NUIG later this year after sitting the HPAT exams in February.
Niamh Crowley is from Emo and the accomplished Ladies footballer hopes to study Economics and Finance in UCD.
Mountmellick native Hannah hopes to study International Relations, Politics and Irish in UCD later this month.
While Rosenallis’s Martin Fitzpatrick wishes to go on and study Science in NUIG.
60,000 Leaving Cert students received their calculated grades online yesterday morning – the first time that students didn’t sit exams.
