It is a school year like no other – but at least it is underway now, something that didn’t look possible not so long ago.
In Laois, almost all schools and creches have opened their doors to students after months of closure.
Primary schools returned last week after not seeing students since March.
While this week the majority of secondary schools have done likewise – and we have some great pictures from Mountrath Community School of their incoming First Years.
MCS is an amalgamation of the Brigidine Secondary School, Mountrath with the Patrician Brothers, Ballyfin and St Aengus Vocational School Mountrath.
Ballyfin and the Brigidine Convent were both founded by Bishop Delaney over 200 years ago.
St Aengus Vocational School was founded in Mountrath and served the local community for 40 years.
The keys of Mountrath Community School were handed over to the first Principal Mr Martin Gleeson in August 2009 for opening later that month.
