It was a busy weekend of hurling and our Talking Sport podcast is reflective of that.
After Rosenallis’s shock win over Camross in the Laois senior hurling championship we’re joined by John Lennon to look back on the game.
He talks about what it’s like playing games in an almost-empty stadium, his own injury battle and how Rosenallis are managing senior hurling and football.
We’re also joined by Dermot McGill who was manager of the O’Moore’s team that beat Camross in the camogie semi-final. St Brigid’s beat The Harps in the other semi-final which was watched by Alan Hartnett.
The lads also discuss the ongoing struggles for ladies sport to get recognition and profile – though accept that there has been progress, albeit slow, over the years.
Dermot also played for the Ballyfin hurlers in their Premier Intermediate loss to Slieve Bloom so he chats about the experience of playing this year and the football-hurling dynamic in a small club like Ballyfin.
We look back at all 12 hurling games played in Senior, Premier Intermediate and Intermediate and pick our ‘Player of the Match’ from the four senior hurling and two camogie games.
