The HSE have provided a positive update on the Covid-19 situation at Portlaoise Hospital.
The patient, who has been treated for Coronavirus since Sunday July 19, is no longer in ICU.
The patient is now in a general bed in the hospital while there are also no further suspected cases of the disease.
These are the latest figures pertaining to the hospital as of 8pm last night.
The Covid-19 Daily Operations Update shows that there is just one vacant general beds in Portlaoise and one available critical care beds.
It also shows that nationally there are now six people in hospital being treated for Coronavirus.
They are being treated at Beaumont, Drogheda, The Mater, Sligo, Tallaght and Portlaoise.
According to HSE CEO Paul Reid, this number is down from a peak figure of almost 900.
He said: “Some really good news. Overnight, we are now down to 6 positive cases in hospital (from 879 peak) and 4 in ICU (160 peak).
“Just 6 hospitals with one case each. We all dont want this trend to go back up.
“Let’s all keep fighting hard against this virus.”
