Getting your hair shaved off is a big deal for a teenage girl – but Katie Linh Roe did so for not one but two great charities recently.
The 15-year-old from Portlaoise – a student in Portlaoise College – had grown her hair long enough so it would be suitable to donate to the Rapunzel Foundation.
In all it got to 14.5 inches before it was chopped off.
The Rapunzel Foundation makes wigs for sick children and are always extremely gracious when people donate their hair for what is a very worthy cause.
Bernadette Rigney from Q & R Hair Sublime volunteered her time and experience to Katie’s efforts.
And not content with donating her hair to the Rapunzel Foundation, Katie, who is a daughter of Pat and Mags Roe, also raised €4,500 for the Cuisle Centre.
Katie recently presented a cheque to Stella Moran, who is the Director of Services at the Cuisle Centre.
Well done Katie!
