Alf Harvey’s archives never fail to throw up some absolute classics.
This week we take a trip back to 2003 and Timahoe’s Round Tower Festival.
And what an occasion it seemed to be.
From Tug of Wars to dog shows, a festival batchelor and a festival queen, there was, it seems, something from everyone.
There was also a visit from Laois footballer Padraig Clancy and the Leinster senior football trophy which Laois had won only a couple of weeks earlier.
Laois jerseys, therefore, were the fashion item of choice that summer while the award for the event’s best photo is a toss up between the winning team pic of the Tug of War champions representing the Lynch Plant Hire team and an action shot of the lads representing Whelan’s pub of Ballyroan.
