Moment in Time: Cumann na mBunscol hurling memories from 2008

The Cumann na mBunscol hurling finals of 2008 threw up their usual share of thrills and spills with an action packed couple of days of action in O’Moore Park.

Abbeyleix’s proud hurling record in the Cumann na mBunscol hurling finals was evident with a thrilling 2-5 to 1-6 win over Killadooley thanks to good performances from Ronan Broderick, Alan Lynch and Brian Thompson while Stephen Campion and Bill Meade were to the fore for Killadooley.

There was also hurling final wins for Clough, Paddock, Derrylamogue, Ballacolla and The Heath.

The Division 1 camogie final was won by a very strong Derrylamogue side that included future Laois players like Laura Marie Maher, Casey Conroy and Mary Keating.

Derrylamogue and Paddock were the two schools to win both hurling and camogie while there was also a first Cumann na mBunscol camogie title for Emo while the Division 5 hurling final was a novel affair where Ballacolla got the better of Stradbally.
