What our graduates say
“I chose to study English & History as I loved the variety of subjects within the disciplines. I also think the course instantly stands out on a job application.
“When people see English they think, well-read and good writer. When they see History they think, good at researching and an interest in detail. These are qualities that make you an attractive candidate to employers.
“The memories I made at Carlow College will forever make me smile. I walked into the college with little education, not much confidence and no academic strengths.
“I skipped out with lifelong friends, a degree in English and History and the confidence to pursue the career I really wanted. I will be forever grateful to the staff and lecturers of Carlow College for that.”
Áine O’Neill, Television Producer. B.A. (Honours) in English & History Graduate.
“I really enjoyed my experience as a student in Carlow College, St Patrick’s. Staff and students are on a first name basis and can afford to dedicate time to intensive topics, contributing to the overall quality of education.
“I left the course feeling passionate about human rights, advocacy and have worked with various projects in Ireland and abroad.
“I was a scholarship student in UCD where I pursued a Master’s Degree in Political Science. My experience in Carlow College motivated me to take an active role in society. I knew exactly what I wanted to do after my time in Carlow College, which taught me to pursue my passion in challenging inequality in all forms.
“I currently work in the area of Policy Development & Education: I wear different hats depending on the job! I work in policy development on disability, women’s rights and immigration.
“There is no such thing as a typical day of work for me! I have been lucky to work on projects that have excited me, I was the Irish and European No Hate Speech Ambassador, I worked with the Council of Europe to develop policy on gender based hate speech and worked with residents in direct provision centres in Ireland to name just a few.”
Stephanie Hanlon, Policy Development & Education. B.A. (Honours) in Social, Political & Community Studies Graduate.
