This is a brilliant idea and it continues today.
The Coronavirus has changed life as we know it and one Laois parish is certainly moving with the extraordinary times that we find ourselves in.
Rathdowney church will host its second online concert live from 1pm today.
As all masses in the country have had to go behind closed doors due to Covid-19, parishioners will be used to tuning in to mass on the webcam by now.
But now, using the same webcam, you will be able to watch a mini concert once a week.
Local man Paul O’Brien, a member of the High Kings, was up first and it was a huge success.
Today’s concert features Martin Delaney, a well known local artist.
Parish Priest Fr Martin Delaney said: “Rathdowney Parish are having a weekly lunchtime concert, broadcast via our webcam from the Parish Church at 1pm each Tuesday.
“This concert features local artists who will entertain us for a short 15 to 20 minute period with music and singing of their choice.
“This is available to all on www.rathdowneyparish.ie and we hope it adds a little light in these times.
“Any local artists who want to be part of this series can contact the Parish Office on 0505-46282 from 10am to 1pm daily.”
