Gardai in Laois came across a very dangerous and bizarre situation last night.
While on a routine patrol between Rosenallis and Clonaslee, they across a crashed jeep being carried by the forks of a digger.
The driver of the digger had no licence and was uninsured.
Gardai said: “Laois Roads Policing Unit were on patrol between Rosenallis and Clonaslee when they came across a crashed Suzuki jeep being carried on the forks of the digger at 2am in the morning with no lighting.
“The driver of digger was unlicensed and not insured. Obviously highly dangerous.
“Court proceedings will follow.”
Separately, Gardai have recovered a number of items that they believe to be stolen.

They say: “As a result of recent searches carried out, Portlaoise Gardaí recovered the following items of property which we believe are stolen.
“Do you recognise any of them? If you do please call Portlaoise Garda Station on 0578674100 and leave a message for Garda Greg Kennedy quoting reference number 17489079.
“We would ask you call by phone for time being.
“You can message page privately also and we will pass details to the investigating member.
“Proof of ownership will be required.”
