A major fight night is set to take place this Saturday night in aid of the Holy Family Star unit.
The Star Unit is a section of the Holy Family which caters for boys and girls with autism and is a very important and excellent service for their education.
The event is set to take place in the Midlands Park Hotel and it will feature the Prison service boxing squad take on an army selection in many different boxing matches.
Prison service coach and one of the event organizers, Austin Stack, said ”This is a major event with 600 people expected, there will be 12 fights and all the boxers are fully carded amateur boxers”.
He went on to say ”We will also have a boxing memorabilia auction on the night with signed gloves from several former world champions”.
The Prison Service Boxing Squad are also planning a trip to New York this summer to fight the New York Correctional Department and the upcoming fight night is sure to be great practice whilst also raising money for a very charitable cause.
The organizers hope people can get behind and support a very worthy cause, the work people do in the Star Unit is excellent and any support given to them will be greatly appreciated.
The tickets will be €10 and can be bought by contacting ipsboxing@gmail.com, there will also be a few tickets on the door on the night and will be sold on a first come first served basis.
