On Thursday January 30, Portlaoise College welcomed a large group of 5th class pupils and their parents to the annual STEM Experience Night.
Information Leaflets had been distributed to primary schools across Laois and parents were invited to register with their child for this free event through Laois Education Centre.
This is the 7th Annual STEM Experience Night hosted by Portlaoise College.
Participants and their parents were welcomed to the college by the Principal Mr. Daly.
Each group was led through the evening by the school’s prefects.
The students and their parents worked their way through four interactive workshops in science, maths and technology, where they were challenged to use their teamwork and problem solving skills.
These workshops were facilitated by Portlaoise College teachers from the Science, Maths and Technology Departments.
Each student also received a STEM resource pack with a Certificate of Participation.
The night was a great success with feedback from parents complimenting the variety of interesting and informative workshops.
Portlaoise College would like to thank all those involved in the planning and preparation for the event and the participants who engaged so well with the activities in each of the workshops.
