A body has been discovered in the Slieve Bloom Mountains in Laois.
The body, of a 44-year-old man, was found around 1pm on Tuesday.
The remains were discovered at The Cut in the Clonaslee area of the county.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said: “Gardaí are investigating all circumstances following the discovery of a body at The Cut in the Clonaslee area of Co. Laois at approximately 1pm on Tuesday February 4.
“The body of a 44 year-old man has since been taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise where a post-mortem by the State Pathologist will take place today.
“Enquires are ongoing and the course of investigation will be determined by the outcome of the post-mortem.”
