The Vicarstown parkrun – a free, weekly timed 5km run on the banks of the Grand Canal – has become a staple of the weekend running schedule in Laois since being established in 2014.
And this New Year’s Day, there is a special parkrun for the day that’s in it.
Now in its sixth year, the Vicarstown parkrun every Saturday (and its partner the Sunday morning 2km junior parkrun) have become hugely popular regular events for all ages.
The special New Year’s Day parkrun takes place at the later than usual time of 11am – and as always there will be refreshments afterwards in the Old School in Vicarstown.
The parkrun will carry on as normal at 9.30am again on Saturday, January 4, with the junior parkrun on Sunday, January 5, at 11am.
So get out the runners and start the year on a good note.
You won’t regret it!
